I have a slight variation on other problems viz. a DVD-ROM player. I recently rebuilt my system with a new case. The DVD-ROM player worked fine in the past but with my new rebuild, I get the following issues:

1. BIOS will not detect DVD-ROM but will detect the HDD on the same IDE cable.
2. I get some flashes on the front of the drive so it appears to get power but I cannot open or close the drawer.

Any thougthts? Defective drive at this point?

Thx.
John

hi.
if your drive get power(be sure about that)
and it can not be opened then its a faulty drive.
try using the hole in the front of the drive to force to open it.
close the drive again try to poen now throw the open button.
if does not open then its dead.
