print screen don,t work

windows xp pro print screen no longer works.
and recently had to have the MOBO replaced (same chipset). For some reason,
right after that, when I hit PrintScreen (even with Alt, Ctl, etc.) it brings
up the print (to printer) screen, or does absolutely nothing at all. This
happens even with a screen print utility I use (Gadwin). I badly need to be
able to do screen prints for my work and can't seem to find anything related
to this on the web when Googling. I'm not trying to print DOS screens, either.

I do have a KVM and tried plugging the keyboard directly into my main
machine and tried PS on another machine running W2K Pro. Also, tried another
keyboard, and nothing is working. Tried playing w/video drivers, too.
I've tried:

Shift + PS = nothing
Ctl + PS = Printer screen
Alt + PS = Powerpoint opens

I've been using Gadwin w/XP Pro for over a year and never had any problem
with it. I reinstalled it but didn't uninstall it first. I can try that but I
don't think Gadwin is the culprit here 'cuz PS doesn't work when I toggle
over to my W2K machine which doesn't even have Gadwin installed. I can't seem
to get PS to copy anything to the clipboard at all on either machine; it goes
to the printer (I guess) which I don't print.
All's fine in the Device Manager
I am SO stumped!
I'm out of things to try and truly hope someone here might have a suggestion
for me. Please?
Thx!!

Until you sort out your hardware problem you can use this free utility
http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page4.html

PrintKey 5.01se (last freeware version) OS: Win95/98/Me/NT/2000
PrintKey allows printing anything on the screen to the printer. Once loaded,
it sits in the task bar. Hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard and the
program grabs the current screen, and is ready to manipulate (cut, crop,
convert to gray scale, etc) then either print or save to file. Very
intuitive, easy to use interface. Low resource consumption.

I use SnagIt for images of the screen. Costs a few dollars, but is so much
more flexible. http://www.techsmith.com/

When I read your question, Print Screen no longer works on my machines
either, but wasn't aware of it. Therefore, I'm of no help. WinXP Pro w/SP2 on
both .

If you have a keyboard with one of those "lovely" F-Lock keys, press it.
Then try the print screen key again. After pressing the key, the capture is
in the clipboard. Open Paint or Wordpad and use the Paste command to create
a file that you can save or print.

Information only for those who do not like the F-Lock......

Jason Tsang has a couple of .REG files that will allow you to reverse the
default behaviour of the F Lock key.

One will change the default to "Off".
http://mvps.org/jtsang/flock.html

The other will eliminate the F Lock feature totally. This one I use!!
http://mvps.org/jtsang/flock-e.html

Both have an Undo.REG file with them.
