First off I have a cable modem (Motorola 2-way).When I turn on my PC, my internet connection works fine for 2-5 minutes, then I get DNS errors and cannot connect to the web. I need to reboot the modem and everything works fine for another 2 to 5 minutes.
Last night, my friend came over trying to figure out what was going on, and set it up so that it was constantly pinging the server. I never lost the connection during that time. It seems like I lose connection during the moments inbetween downloading pages or files.
My ISP suggested turning off automatic duplexing and force 100 HD, or play around with those settings until it works. I got it to work with 50HD, but the connection speed sucked beyond belief.
My riend sugested that it might just be a bad connection between my ethernet cable and nic card, or the cable and the modem, or my nick card was just a POS.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
