24-Pin PSUs on 20-Pin Motherboards ??

Hi,

Could anyone tell me if 24-Pin PSUs will work on 20-Pin Motherboards? A friend of mine gave me a CoolerMaster 430W PSU

... My motherboards only have 20-Pin connectors so i was wondering if it was possible to plug in the 24-Pin PSU and leave the extra 4 pins hanging? Will the work? Or will it blow the Motherboard and/or the PSU..

Sure that will work fine.

check out the old atx v1.x pinout to the new atx v2.x pinout notice the v2.x pins 1-10 are the same and 13-22 are identical to the old v1.x 11-20 pins.

Strange that unit does not have the removable +4 portion... maybe it was cheaper in bulk?

Thanks for the replies. I'll try it out tomorrow.. Yeh, i think it's a cheap PSU, probably why he gave it to me.. it's brand new.
