Will this run crysis you think? I would certainly hope so. Not a bad way to spend $1600. :-)

Obviously this post is not entirely serious. At the end, you also ask (rhetorically methinks) if your build will run Crysis. FYI, here are the requirements for Crysis:

Minimum Requirements

CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600/X800GTO (SM 2.0)
RAM: 768Mb/1Gb on Windows Vista
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

Recommended Requirements

CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5Gb
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX10 with Windows Vista

Nah, it's too slow to run Starcraft. You need a quad core, probably 16GB of RAM, and go with two 8800GTX in SLI, then maybe, just maybe you'll get past the openning credits before Starcraft crashes your system.

Im just kidding guys. Just seeing what kind of response I could get with this post. :-P

I do not own this build obiously. But I am hoping to get it. Hopefully around x-mas. Any thoughts on any specific components, or am I right on the money?

i got a question tho, can u run starcraft with xp64 and my rig

My kid tried to load Starcraft and a couple other old games and found they wouldn't work. Something about the games not recognizing the dual core processor. Can't tell you about the XP64 part.

Starcraft does work on a X2, I know..im koren. :)

Anyways.... I still have an old p75 laptop with 32mb of ram running win98 and it plays star craft fine. I just upgraded it with a enternal HD-DVD burner and now its super.

You really should have waited for a Core 2 Quadro, man. Starcraft is going to beat the living crap out of your system. All I can say is that if you ever get on battle.net and you get yourself into a big battle, your game is going to turn into a slide show with all those little sprites on the screen. I am sure that 640x480 resolution will probably be more than even your monitor is capable of handling, so good luck to you. :D

P.S. Nice build by the way

I loaded up Starcraft last night on my rig (specs in sig) and it runs pretty spiffy. :)  So yes it will run....

Speaking about oldies, but goodies... I'm currently re-playing Fallout 2 on my E6600 and X1900XT 512MB. Now that's money well spent.

Maybe my kid was doing something wrong. Kids do that from time to time.

never played starcraft, but i do like wc3 quite a bit (first rts i ever played). i just got company of heroes, and i must say, best rts game out there. lots of fun and eye candy is amazing. watching soldiers go flying through the air during artillery strikes always brings a smile to my face.

Unfortunately Westwood studios was bought out by EA, and you can see clear evidence of the deterioration of the C&C franchise in C&C: Generals . Don't get me wrong here, I love C&C (the first RTS i ever played was Red Alert, and I even played Westwood's first RTS of Dune 2) , I just think that the acquisition of Westwood studios by EA doesn't bode well for C&C.

P.S. As for Project Revolution, it is as yet an unfinished wc3 mod that will bring SC into 3D, but I don't think it will remain unfinished for much longer as it is very much an active project.

it will run STARCRAFT but at resolution of 400 X 300 .
but then also it will be a slide show.

You would probably need a Quad core CPU like the Kentsfield or the AMD Quadfather with 16GB of 1066MHZ ram and 2 150 GB RAPTORS in RAID 0
and a 2000W PSU.

lol!!lol!!

CoH is made by same guys as DoW so basic game elements are the same and CoH just came out so eye-candy probably a little better. plus, i prefer the WW2 theme. Old rts games like wc3 and proably starcraft are great for LAN's since almost any pc/laptop can run it and wc3 (and supposedly CoH) can all run off same license key for LAN only (online checks for unique). it's easy to get a good 3v3 or 4v4 going.
