I've had personal experience with the BEFSR41 4port router. It conked out after about a year and a half of use (most likely due to overheating). I suggest you stay away from it.
A better choice would be D-Link or Netgear. I've used both and havent gotten any headaches from them so far.
I was running that router for 2 and a half years and it still works great when I plugged it in recently. I upgraded to a wireless router, but I'll definitely keep it as a backup in case my wireless were to ever fail.
ok but i need something that can share my printer either through the ethernet cable or a usb cable... does anyone know any that can share a printter with a usb printer port or just directly shares it from the ethernet
if your printer has ethernet, set it up that way. It's not done through "sharing" on home networks, you just install the driver and setup as a network printer.
if it's USB and you want the printer near the router and not attached to a computer, see the link below:
If you do have a computer that is always on, AKA file-server, download computer, etc. then you could plug it into that computer and share it out, whether it's Macintosh, Windows or Linux.
I have that one and I have good luck with it. I know it has wireless, but I got it because I have 2 laptops.
Edit: I have another US Robotics that I have had for about 4 years and it can stay on for about 6 to 7 months before I have to reboot it or it reboots by itself.
I got a version 3 BEFSR41 and would gladly change it with it if I wasn't on a student's buget.
At least 2-3 times a week it seems to "crash", no computers are able to access the internet anymore, I have to unplug and replug this thing to get it to work again. Really anoying, I was expecting a lot more from Linksys, even more now that they have been bought by CISCO ... anyway, my 2 cents.
