This is the first time I've posted to this forum, so I apolygize for any mistakes. I searched the internet and the tomshardware guide for quite a while, but did not find the answer to my question (although it could be there and I just didn't find it).
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of an existing list (or could construct one) of the various AMD and Intel chips in order of age or power, as well as what the equivalent AMD vs. Intel chips are. I am a little confused by all the different marketting names and am not sure how they all compare. A friend of mine has a chip called a "Sempron". I have one called an "Athlon". I peice of software mentions needing an "Athlon XP". I have no clue how these rate vs. each other or vs. an Intel chip (in terms of the rough equivalent). And I was also wondering if an "Athon" is the same as an "Athlon XP" or not. For example, if I want the AMD equivalent of an Intel P4, what is it? What is a "Sempron" the equivalent of?
