975x vs 965

I'm sure this is somewhere in here but it wasn't in the faq's. Could someone just break down to me (basically) what the difference is between-- 955, 965, 975 etc.

The 955 series was built for Pentium 4's and D's not for C2D the newer 975X is built for C2D and for Overclocking while the 965 are also built for C2D but more media orinted and for "non-gamers" who just want a C2D machine

But the 965 chip overclocks better, so if this is your aim and you only want to use one video card then you should choose 965.
