Are there any SATA DVD-ROM drives? I want a Plextor 760-SA for the burner, but I want a 18x DVD ROM drive to send the data from. I could blow $100 for another 760, but that would be a waste.

There are burners from liteon, sony, Nec and LG that can burn at 18x. But,none of them can read higher than 16x. Even your Plextor burner can't read Dvds at 18x. It's clearly witten (18x speed is for writing only). Please check the specification.

Hi!

On a new 965P-DQ6 M/B I have installed the 760SA DVD and result was a reading speed of up to 9.5x maximum. Has anyone any tip to raise the reading speed of the drive?

On the 6 yellow SATA II connectors of the M/B there are at 0-3, 4xHD as RAID 0+1, at 4 the DVD and at 5 none.

Thanks, Ioannis
