My radeon aiw 9800 pro is dying, no doubt b/c I replaced the fan w/ a zalman heat pipe. It ran silently for three years or so, so I guess I'm ok with that.

I'm looking for a replacement that can run on an AGP 4x/8x system with a 300 watt power supply. I'm running windows XP pro on a 2.8 GHz pentium 4 with 2 GB of ram and a couple of SATA hdds. The power requirements don't seem to always be indicated so I'm hesitent to pick up anything. I guess I could upgrade my power supply if I have to, but I'd rather put that money towards a new system down the line.

Seems like most cards either require pci-e or more power. I currently have an analog montior. Something that has an additional component hdtv out would be nice.

thanks,

mike

it seems if you want to keep your current sys
then it would be a good idea to update the psu.

if you want to get a new agp card.
some require a extra power connect.

you mentioned 2 hdds so if you can afford it.
i would say a new psu while your at it.

The 9800Pro uses a little over 47w under full load.

Without knowing anything else and assuming you do not want to replace your PSU, you'll want a video card that does not consume more than 50w. There are actually a couple of powerful cards that comes under that 50w limit.

The following are cards you can choose from:

7900GT
7900GS
7600GT
7600GS

X1800GTO
X1600XT
X1600Pro
