can i run 9700 in my mobo...?

hi frens...

i need some urgent help over here...


i have a asus p4vp-mx mobo...with a AGP4x(1.5v only) slot..

presently i am using nvidia mx4000(agp 8x... it's workin fine)...

now i got a fx5800 ultra(agp 8x), but it's giving me a problem...my computer is frequently getting restarted...dont know what's the reason...


now i am going 2 buy ATI 9700 pro...

can any one help me whether 2 buy a 9700 pro or not...

i hope u people will help me...

Shouldn't have any problem with it as most 8x cards should work fine in in a 4x slot (and with litle penalty).

I'm just wondering what hind of power supply you have, I think both the cards you are looking at suggest something in the 300 watt range (though I dare say there is some flexibility, my 300 watt was happily running a 9800, 2 optical and two hdd)

The 9700 should be a little less thirsty on the juice than the 5800 though. Before putting it in I'd make sure you remove the curremt Nvidia drivers and maybe use a driver cleaning utily.

A quick google came up with a useful post below, not sure how accurate but useful as a guideline (Idare say of you dig around here you will be abe to find the information on individual cards).
