Hi there! Thanks a bunch for taking the time to look at my thread. I know you guys must get these alot and I have searched but my question has not really been answered fully. For about 2 weeks now I've been looking/searching for computer parts to use for my new PC. I have not build a PC in 4 years so as you can imagine; things have changed and I'm a little behind. Here is what I have so far:
Case:
Thermaltake ArmorPlus(Armor+) VH6000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case ( $204.99 )
DVD Drive:
Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model DVR-116DBK ( $27.99 )
Hard Drive:
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive ( $119.99 [ I'm buying 2 of these!] )
Monitor:
ASUS VH226H Black 21.5" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor ( $209.99 )
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit for System Builders ( $179.99 )
Now, on to what I want this PC for:
I use Cygwin extensively, I also code Websites/Programs and I've been known to run Photoshop, Dreamweaver as well as a mess of over programs at the same time. I also am a gamer; I own a copy of Crysis L4D as well as other Games; so basically I want a PC that will be good for gaming as well as run my programs quickly as well as efficiently. I do have a few questions:
1. Is the ASUS Rampage II Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard better than the MSI Eclipse?
2. Do you think the price I'm paying for these parts is fair? ( $2,865.63 for everything including shipping )
3. Would you guys recommend anything else?
4. Please note, this is ALL I'm buying NOTHING more, I'd like to know if I need to buy any sort of grease or anything like that!
5. Does that DVD Driver write as WELL as read?
6. I've been looking into Liquid Cooling because knowing myself; I'll probably overclock that CPU; could you guys recommend something affordable that will last me a while and is Medium difficulty to build?
