Only 1 phone jack in the house and that is third floor that all the phones in the house run off of and was thinking which would be better. We got Verzion home DSL which needs a direct connection to the jack. I can get a 50ft Belkin A3L791-S Category 5e Snagless Patch Cable (50 Feet, Blue) for $10.99 if i connect the modem/router upstairs and run to the basement tower ethernet card. Or buy a Broadband/ADSL Patch phone Cable and run to the basement and hook the modem/router up there 50ft $33. Verzion wants $169 to run a extra phone line & jack and that is crazy. The upsaitrs laptop has a wireless pcmica card but if i hook the router upstairs then i can hard wire the laptop to the modem and just go wireless when moving it around. Downstairs ethernet card is FriendlyNet Giganix 2032T PCI adapter:?
Form my understanding you have all the jacks plugged in but one? Right?
If that's the case then you can get a phone/DSL noise filter for any of those jacks and plug in you modem/router and the phone at the same time. I believe it comes with Verizon pack (mine came with SBC) and unless you live in a mansion you won't have a problem accessing your wireless access point within the hose.
