hello,

From the "run" option in the start window. I type in "C:" and a drop down
box appears with recent files opened. how do i rid that history?

Control panel, Internet options, Clear history button.

Follow this step by step:
Go to Control Panel, Taskbar and Start Menu, click on the
Start Menu tab, select the Customize button next
to "Start Menu", click on the Advanced tab, at the bottom
of the new page click on "Clear List"
