8x PCIE VS 16X PCIE

Is 8x likely to be a bottleneck for the next DirectX 10 cards? The reason I say is because one of the motherboards I'm looking at has both slots(SLI capable) always locked at 8x even when running only one card. Would like to upgrade to a DX10 card later. Think the 8x will pose a problem?

I hardly say there will be any difference between 8x and 16x
