Any say on the best manufacturer for a GeForce 7900? How about a Radeon X1900? I have an older Radeon 9800PRO and I've always had problems with driver. How are the new Radeon drivers?
Cat's are fine. Manufactoring has nothing to do with the drivers, your comparing a hardware to a software issue. My preference at this current point is an X1900, unless you feel like dropping a little more coin for an 8800.
Having spent a couple years lurking on several tech forums, as a general statement I would have to say that I see more complaints about nVidia drivers. Your mileage may vary. I can't say I've every had a problem with any of my Radeon cards and I always install each new version of CAT even when the release notes don't mention any improvements for my model of card. What version are you running? CAT 6.10 is out now. Just use ATI's driver uninstall tool, and then update to the newest release. You should have no problems.
My son has a 6800GS, the first NV card in our house, and that also has been running great.
