It depends on your speakers, taste for music, whether you play games with EAX 5 or not.
With the recent new X-Fi cards that drive prices down
it might be a good upgrade.
I guess it all depends. If you listen to music or play games a lot i believe an upgrade is worth it. If you care about sound quality then X-Fi is an good investment.
I curently have an Audigy 2 card and it does its job. I will wait a bit more for the prices to drop down. Then i might get an X-Fi. Newegg has a good deal on X-Fi ExtremeMusic $73.00 after $20.0 mail in rebate.
I sure did and I'm loving it. Its only fully enjoiable if you have a z5500 Logitec surround system or high quality head phones, or any other great surround systems. I head a huge difference in my gaming.
Besides that, the X-fi has an onboard cpu, so that the card conrols the sound, not you actual Processor, which requires less work, hence giving you better system performance and frames on games.
IF you are into great sound be it from music, movies or games & have a good speaker setup its a good move. The prices are coming down on the X-Fi's & they sound amazing.
even if you had a z5500 setup... i dont think you will hear any differences in sound quality. the only good thing i see out of this is the miniscule FPS gain (~1-3 frames) for gaming, or bragging rights
I just got an X-fi Xtreme Gamer, it is a very nice card but so is the Audigy 2, it only costs $15 more than the zs, but I don't see any point in buying a new card for only a little improvement. I bought my x-fi cause onboard sucks .
