Hi there,

As u can c in my signiture, my memory is GEIL DDR2-800.

Rated as 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1V

But according to my research, the speed of this memory is lowered to increase its compatability (Guarantee that you can boot), and you should be able to get that rated speed by tweaking settings in bios.

Question:
1. Is the default memory voltage for GigaByte DQ6 1.8V?

2. Can I just increase the memory voltage and set the timings manually?

3. Do I have to change any multiplier or ratio if I don't plan to overclock?

4. How can I do the above without overclocking any of other components in my system?
( I don't want to overclock at the moment, just wanna run everything as fast as it is supposed to be)

Many thanks!

Yes, just as for all DDR2

2. Can I just increase the memory voltage and set the timings manually?
Yes. You may not even have to raise the voltage at all or all the way to the spec to have it work.

3. Do I have to change any multiplier or ratio if I don't plan to overclock?
In setting the memory bus speed (to e.g. DDR2-800), your MB should usually take care of setting ratios for you.

4. How can I do the above without overclocking any of other components in my system?
Most MB BIOSs are set up to work that way automatically. You would likely have to manually directly adjust other settings, such as FSB, to OC.
