I have this mobo and it will have problems with most 3rd party HSFs. I use the Zalman CNPS9500LED and I just whacked a couple of brass nipples underneath the mounting holes on the mobo (ie: I screwed them into the mobo tray) and screwed the mounting bracket directly into those nipples. It's probably sturdier than the normal way of doing things anyways 
. You could do the same, or otherwise you'll have to remove that backing.
