Those are all upper limits, so the BIOS "auto" setting chooses the fastest combination out of the standard specs. Normally, it will choose the fastest speed that both the memory and MB are designed for (if MB is designed for DDR2-800 and memory for DDR2-667, that would be DDR2-667). However, as rw points out, in some boards it may choose a slower speed if that is likely to provide better performance in combination with the CPU.
