I have recently built my new computer with a Core 2 Duo 6400. I ran Prime95 to test my cooler before I start to overclock. I ran Core Temp in the background and the temperature ranged from 54-57 degrees. Is this a solid temperature and is it safe for me to overclock yet?

I thought it was a little high also because I am using a scythe infinity with an antec tricool fan instead of the stock fan. After reading your reply I opened Gigabyte's EasyTune5 and while using Prime95 it says my cpu is about 43 degrees and then I opened SpeedFan and it says my cpu is either 43 or 44 (I can't tell if Temp 1 or 2 is my cpu.) From this I can guess that one of my cpu temp readers are wrong. If you are familiar with either of these 2 other programs, it would be helpful if you could tell me which program is right and which is wrong. If my cpu is actualy in the mid 40's instead of in the mid 50's under load, that would be ok I assume?
