Best affordable non-industrial flashdrives (meaning aimed for the end consumer) I found are these:

I would like to see an extensive benchmark test between those brands!
Maybe there are better out there we don't know of; I just went to check the main brands doing USB sticks.

*
1 OCZ Rally2 Turbo USB 2.0 Flash Drive (35MB/30MB sustained) $78 8GB MLC
*
2 OCZ ATV Turbo USB 2.0 Flash Drive (30/25MB sustained) ?$58? 8GB MLC
*
3 SanDisk Extreme® Ducati Edition (20MB R/W) $52 4GB SLC
*
4 Transcend Jetflash A2 4GB (20MB/s R/W sustained) ?$60? SLC
*
5 Kingston hyperX (30/20Mb/s) MLC 4GB: $56; 8GB: $96
*
6 SanDisk Extreme Cruzer Contour (25/18MB RW)
*
7 Transcend 8/16GB JetFlash 2A (30/25MB R/W) 16GB: $175 ; 8GB: $85
*
…More suggestions of fast, low latency sticks?

Thank you!

I requested a review of USB thumb drives on this forum over a year ago with no luck.

The popularity of the thumb drives seems to have continued to grow without any review from anyone. If Toms would pick one or two capacities and review just a dozen of each that would be of interest to thousands of their readers.

The thumbnail is a bench of my OCZ Rally2 8GB thumb drive. It maxes out at 15883 Write and 34905 Read.
