I totally concur. Probably why he said a single word and left. Couldn't bear the pain.

Hey, I like the Baron but I know the anguish he must have felt whilst typing. Either that or he was drunk at the time

I agree.

E6600 is the winner here. I got the same procesor and it does outperforme my FX-62. Price wise E6600 is at $310.00 give or take $10 or so. FX-62 price is 700 buck. Which make price per performance is favor of the E6600.

What I don't get is why there is such a price/performance delta.
What is AMD doing that causes their chips to be so overpriced?
I have heard of an AMD cpu shortage, but not why?
Even with the low-end chips at $180-$250, Conroe is the way to go.
WTF?

Delta means difference, if my schooling has tought me well...

The same could be asked of why Netburst wasn't priced under K8 back in the pre-Core 2 era. As long as they make a profit, they'll charge at that price. Besides, the lowest end AMDs are cheaper than their Intel counterparts, just look at this chart.

The chip shortage may be due to the new contract with Dell, who sucks chips by the boatload.

E6600 outperforms every CPU that AMD have.

Dropping K8 prices would be like conceding defeat; the average consumer will compare products of similar pricing, so if AMD dropped their prices Core 2 Duos would just about be in a class of their own.

The X2 4400+'s equivalence is the E6300. So if you want to save soe money you can drop down to that CPU. It can be overclocked to 2.8GHz when using DDR2 800 RAM. That would make it faster than the E6700, but slower than the X6800 CPU at stock speeds.

I'd get an E6300 or E6400 instead, and with the money saved, buy a good NVidia 680i motherboard and overclock it like crazy.
November 13, 2006 4:54:17 PM

If you have the money,go with a E6700 or X6800 I own the X6800,and its fast,! very fast,!!! But for under $500 you can buythe E6700 and OC it to a X6800 with just a 10% overclock.I just switched from AMD to Intel, and i am glad that i did. If your looking for a AMD I have an FX60 dual core,Asus A8N32-SLI Delux mobo & 2 gigs of XMS CL2 Platnum I can sell you for $650,plus shipping. The whole setup is 5 weeks old. Also have a brand new Intel E6700 for $485 plus shipping its in a factory sealed box.Plus a X6800 in a factory sealed box for $825 plus shipping.

The 6700/X6800 aint worth the money for the xtra perf you get, not even the one your trying to sell!

E6600

salute to BaronMatrix. he did a fairplay here, what a man! :)

E6600.. e6400,the "cheaper" version, can even go toe to toe with 5000+ or even the flagship FX-62

much as I want to have underdogs(AMD) put up a fight with its masters(intel) right now in the desktop high end area.. they will not only be intel's underdogs but their b!***es when this keep up or get even worse
