Any advice on my new system would be appreciated. I believe technically it is OK (everything compatible) but this is my first time picking out all components for a custom system I don't want to screw up.

Motherboard Asus-p5w-DH-deluxe
CPU Intel Core2 Duo E6600
Memory Xms2-(2x1GB)twinX2X2048-6400-DDR2-800MHZ
GPU Asus EN8800GTS 640MB DDR3
Case Antec P180
PSU 600W-Ozc Gamestream
Optical Lite-On SHM-165H6s Lightscribe
Sound Creative X-fi Xtreme music

Thanks in advance

Try a bigger case. The Antec P180 is 1cm shy of fitting a 8800. Unless you cut part of the harddrive bay off, then your good. Otherwise, consider a bigger case.

Already have a hard drive?
What monitor will you be using with the 8800GTS?

I forgot to add a maxtor 300gb sata
I also would like to recycle my 250 ata hard drive if possible.

Monitor is a 21 Crt Not planning on upgrading it.

I thought the GTS was smaller than the GTX, but if you don't think it will fit do you have any suggestions? Looking for good airflow and nice design.

Thanks

The GTS is shorter than the GTX so you should have no problem.
Since your 21" CRT can do 1600x1200 or higher resolution the GTS isnt "too much" video card for serious gaming.

And you should have no problem using your IDE 250GB hard drive in the new system. Were you hoping to use that HD to boot up the new system without having to install XP?

I was planning to reinstall xp on the new sata hd thinking it might be faster to boot from.
