Ok I hav the 6300c2d and an asus p5ld2-vm and the motheboard has a option that lets you overclock 5 10 15 20 % but when i do anything over 10 my system wont boot and i have 2 reset the bios. Sorry if this is a dumb question but im new 2 overclocking and i would like to get atleast 2.4ghz out of this processor.

Some component does not like the OC, maybe its your ram.

If 10% works stable then thats the max you're gonna get

Dont use that automatic OCing shiite. Post your full expects so I can see wheres the bottleneck.

Corsair xms2 6400 5 5 5 12 512mb
intel 6300c2d with stock hsf
radeon x800gt dont know if that is needed

will it make any diff that in this how 2 guide that u posted it doesnt use the same motherboard that i do ?

Its the same basic idea. But since you dont even have a full ATX mobo and a P965 chipset, I would advice to go up to 300Mhz FSB first and work from there. Do it very slowly, 5~7Mhz increments.

Fist you might want to invest in some after market cooling equipment, you want to have a stable set of RAM, and a decent mobo to OC your cpu. The magic OC feature on your mobo of the DOT, as they may state can help you get more speed through that c2d of yours. Just bump it up by 3-6 mhz frequencies
