hello everyone, I tried a palm os and didn't like it,and
now am going to purchace a dell axim 30.
The reason for this is that I am a physical therapist who
sees home bound patients as a part time job.
I need to be able to not only set time and dates to see
patients, but how long I spend and the mileage from one
to the other!I also need for there to be a way I can
store this information for up to 7 years (transferring it
to a disk or something like that).
Is there a program that you folks know of that would work
well for this? (keep in mind I have never used a pocket
pc before other than at a local vendor!)

Also one of the features of the pda I used, a Clie, is
that if I had not HotSync'd it before the battery died,
all my info died!
Is there a way that pocket pc's keep this from happening?

I know ideally you would just hotsync it everyday, but
sometimes it's just not feaseble, for instance if I go
away for a week, i really don't want to bring/buy a
laptop jus for that purpose!

sorry about the long post, but like I said I don't know
much about it, and figured I'd ask those who did,
luis

Pocket PCs come with Outlook, that you install on your PC. All of your
data is synchronized between it and your handheld. You can back up the
Outlook data file off of your PC to CD-R or CD-RW, if you wish. The
Outlook data file will have the extension ".pst".

Check out www.pocketgear.com You should be able to find what you need
there as far as an app. Plus many of the apps offer free trials. The
manufacture of Sprint DB Pro does offer development and might be able to
build something for you (for a price) http://www.kaione.com

As to synching, DO IT, and DO IT OFTEN. I personally use my PPC to
document all of my transfers (I work as a chauffeur) and therefore take
the approach that the PPC is for data collection ONLY - not storage.
However, if you can't be ABSOULETY certain that you have a Auto DC
adapter and a regular AC adapter and that you plug the PPC into a power
source at every moment that its just sitting around (like overnight). If
you keep the battery charged, not synching isn't that big of an issue.
