id guess the 7900gs is better, but i would like to hear some opinions, because i may sell my 7600gt, and maybe have like 160 bucks to buy another card.

Yeah, it would have to be a highly overclocked and/or modded X1800GTO to beat a 7900GS. The GTO at stock speeds trades blows and is basicaly equal to your 7600GT.

And while normally I would not recommend such a small upgrade (7600GT to 7900GS), it depends what you can get for the 7600GT. Best Buy has a 7900GS for $150 no rebates, so it might not be that expensive an upgrade. Still, I would only do it if the 7600GT is failing to please you in a game/resolution/setting you want to game at.

The 7900 GS is much better.

Even if u unlock the pipelines of the X1800GTO, making it an X1800XT, it would still only have 16/8/16/16 pipelines while the 7900 GS has 20/7/20/16.

Preferably, u should buy the 7900 GT wich has 24/8/24/16 and is a lot better for like 20$ more.

the thing is that if im lucky i can sell my 7600gt for $160 ( i live in a foreign country where a 7600gt new costs like $220) and my bro is coming down from the US in about a month, and so he could bring me a better video card. it isnt an essential upgrade, but if i am able to sell my gpu id try and get a better one
