In this thread, someone asks what's the effect of getting a 2 and 1GB RAM setup (for 3GB), since it won't use the same sticks. Obviously, he doesn't want to go 64-bit (given the compatibility issues I guess) and he doesn't want to waste .75GB of RAM.

So, would comparing the performance of 3GB and 4GB setups—both running a 32-bit OS—warrant an article? Apologies if this has already been covered.

It would serve no purpose. You'd basically be comparing 3 GB vs 3.25 GB. The performance will basically be identical.
