Problem - using film holder for Epson 2400, I sometimes got thumbnails
of each negative on the strip and I sometimes got all the negatives
miniaturized within one thumbnail...and variations on this theme.
Every setting was tried, as was updating of software and twain drivers,
as well as simple reinstallation of my existing software.
Epson email support was prompt, but pretty much told me what was in the
online manual. They were clear and precise and I'd already tried all
that.
Because I was successful sometimes, but mostly not, I felt there had to
be a "fix". Paid telephone support at Epson told me that some users
have this problem and the only thing they know is that the negative has
to be flat and undamaged etc. Epson told me the software is very
finicky about this. She said it has something to do with how you place
the negative. But really, I was told it happens to some people and
there's not much we can do about it.
From her comments, I figured out: do not necessarly slide the negative
strip all the way to the top of the slide, as they recommend. Instead,
place the negative strip anywhere along the holder. LINE UP THE BLANKS
BETWEEN PICTURES ONTHE NEGATIVES - EXACTLY - WITH THE NUMBER MARKINGS ON
THE slide itself.
In other words, you have to adjust your strip to fit in with the
numbered places where the holder and software expect there to a break.
I've had no trouble getting all the thumbnails I tried to day - at lease
7 or 8 successful strips.
