I know the best method for removing most HSF assemblies ie. gently twist HSF assembly, etc, but do you do the same with the LGA775 socket?

Maybe if you did the above/general method the MB's pins might get damaged as there is no real support, as only pin tip is in contact with CPU, where'as with the AM2, 478, etc, they have some support in the socket.

There is perhaps about 20 lbs downward pressure on the CPU - that is definitely not supported by those pins. The socket prevents the lateral movement of the CPU, thus twisting the HSF clockwise/counterclockwise is the best way to loosen the HSF-CPU bond.
