Power Connector Canon Canoscan D1250 U2F

Strange problem on my Canon Canoscan D1250 U2F scanner. When I
connected it tonight to my desktop, nothing happened. Then I realized
it wasn't getting power. I checked where the power "barrel"-type
connector plugs into the rear of the scanner near the USB port and it
doesn't appear to make contact. It's as if the female part (on the
scanner) had been mashed into the plastic so far it doesn't make
contact.

I tried to open the case to perhaps reposition the receptacle, but I
couldn't figure that out! So my questions:

1. Any ideas how to open this case? FYI here's an image of the
scanner

2. Any other ideas?
