having some problems with my msi 975x and after some searching ended up on this forum.
Before overclocking i would like to be sure of my cpu temperature.
Speedfan doesnt give a accurate temperature it varies from -25 to 252C.

Then i read i should try core temp and/or rmclock they both give stable temperatures, but core temp is around 37C and rmclock 51C.

what is wrong?

MSI 975x
Intel Core 2 Duo 6600
MSI 7900 GTO

Nothing is wrong.

Speedfan is not compatible with Core 2 Duo CPUs.

Core Temp and RMClock do not measure CPU temperature the same way. Core Temp is generally accepted to be very accurate so rely on that program for tempurature readings.

37C at idle is about right.

I just found out i should have posted this question in motherboard section.
Thanks so far, yes 37C was close to idle

What program should i best use to stress the cpu and see what temperatures do?

After that overclocking can begin :p
