Has anyone seen a new 3d mark record using the 8800GTXs yet? I would assume that 8800GTX SLI + qx6700 OCed + 680i chipset mobo should be enough for a new record...

If I'm a total nub and its been discussed I am very sorry, don't flame me!

Coolaler has performed several tests but mostly on stock and checking chipsets performance (wich point I dont see since its so minimal difference).
But I havent heard from World Records yet..

Why not just check on orb? ( would, but I've got to go and install vista x64 rtm...)

23000 3dmark06, with a picture of the heatsinks in use. Pretty crazy stuff.

Yep, Klngpln broke the 3DMark06 record.

Here's the fancy video, Nivdia commercial and it didn't show the record breaking run.

Do you guys think that the core 2 quad 6700 would cause the 3d mark scores to go up or down? I think down because 3d mark isnt aimed towards the few multi threaded games and the x6800 will prob OC higher due to lower heat dissipation.

I'm not sure, sailormonz. Other things equal, the avg. temp of the entire chip is going to be higher for the QX6700 at X clock speed, compared to the X6800 at X clock speed for sure, but that doesn't tell us a hell of a lot about the temp at particular points inside the chip... Eventually, you're going to hit a point where you'll totally fry a gate in the chip no matter how much cooling you have on top of it. It may be that that will occur at roughly the same clock speed in both chips. If so, then OCing the QX6700 and the X6800 is going to top out at about the same point, and there'd be no benefit in an X6800 vs. the QX6700...

But, if the X6800 really can OC higher with the best cooling out there, then you're right... for now.
