Hi,
My hard drive crashed and I need to replace it. How do I know what is compatable with my computer? I have a HP 750n with XP on my system. The old hard drive was a Western Digital 80 GB but there are so many of what seems to be the same item. CAn someone please help??

It's most likely a IDE drive, you can be sure if it has a flat ribbon cable attached to it.
If by remote chance it's a Sata drive there will be 2 connections on the back, power and flat narrow Sata cable.
Do a search on flat IDE cables and Sata cables so you know what to look for...
