Hi everybody. I've just bought Western Digital 400 gb external Harddisk. I've connected it by usb , power cable and pushed the on button. The button flashed green , but nothing happened. I couldn't see the drive in my computer . Also when i tried to power off , the button didn't work and i had to pull out adaptor. What could be the problem

FYI: I have had horrible luck w/ WD external HDDs (for a project I was working on we were using tons of the external 250gb HDDs and most of them (over 50%) went bad in less than 6 months...). Not sure if they still suck and that's what your problem is or not, but I wanted to at least let you know that the used to suck. So, call WD support.

Anyway, what OS you running? If it's XP you shouldn't need a driver (it should detect as USB Mass Storage Device).

Did you try manual to make sure you did everything properly?

Can you hear the HDD spin up when you press the power button?
