i want to go ahead and order a new card today but im not sure what i should order, ive narrowed it down to the x1950 xtx toxic or the 8800. the 8800 is first generation which usually throws me away but still seems like a pretty awesome card so im wondering what you guys would do if you had the choice between the 2.

8800 ftw......
beats the x1950xtx by a majority in the benches. If you are willing to drop that kind of dough on a gpu then go for it. I myself am waiting to upgrade until i see how ati responds to the 8 series.

From what I've read 8800 is DX 10 capable and put good numbers against ATI 1950. I don't know much of nVidea cards but seems like it's a better option than ATI for now. wait for more opinion.

Im going with the 8800 GTX after 2.5 years of my ATI X800 Pro. I was leaning toward the X1950 recently but this card came out and Ive done the research and going to future proof with the GTX. I would go with the GTX. Its Direct X10 ready and the X1950 will practically be obsolete come Jan 30 with Vista rollout and the GTX wont be!

i agree. But the x1950 will be ok for a while because some games will be backwards compatable, but not take advantage of new dx10 features. All dx9 cards will be obsolete as soon as good games come out only for dx10. But like i said before im waiting to see ati's answer. (R600)

If the r600 core isn't good i will cry.... :)

If you have the money now though go with the 8800 like everyone else is saying and i have said before.
