Hey,

I've been running my e6400 for a fortnight now and I have never once seen it go over 1600mhz. I've check other people's benchmark scores and mine are considerably lower than other standrard E6400, (not overlcocked)

Is there a setting that insists the processor run slower than it is supposed to?

Thanks.

Okay, I disabled the EIST, but it still says 1.6ghz on my system. I'm using a gigabyte GL-945pl-S3.

Hey, I think I have the same problem, though its a 6300 in BIOS it says I m at 45 C and CPU is about 60 C and the CPU fan is at 1820-1850 RPM....How do I know if I fully pushed those pins for the HSF?
It said to push until you hear a click but I only heard one click on the first one and the rest I was pushing a hell of a lot and nothing clicked....
Thanks,
X

Ok, I just dled Speed fan and it says 75 degrees for CPU and 40 for HDD. Fan speed is at 11638 and I clocked it at 400x7 If you could tell me what the normal Clock is also that might be good.

Please Help

I have an e6400 also and noticed that when the cpu is idle, it underclocks to 1600mhz to save on power comsumption etc...
When mine is under some or full load, it is immediately clocked to 2.13ghz...

What program are you using to define your cpu speed?

I'm using cpu-z but not sure how to check when running a game.

Speedfan gives me a temp1 55, temp 2 21. My HSF is mounted properly, I have checked it a couple of times.

I haven't disabled C1E just yet but will do on next restart.

Falfa,

What is the POWER scheme that you are running?

It is under the screen saver tab for the display properties when you right click the wallpaper on your desktop.

These profiles modify speedstep as well... You need to set to Always ON.

Dell's notebooks are notorious for down stepping when not set to Always On even with it disabled in the bios.

Also, The processor itself regardless of the bios settings will step down if thermal limits are reached. It is a built in protection mechanism.

So those folks asking ya to check temps were asking because of that.

Hope this helps!

I've now set my power to always on. I've disabled the ciE and EIST.

I'm running an arctic cooling Pro 7. I've check this is mounted correctly and even added new arctic silver 3 paste and I'm still getting 55C and 23C.

Its still sitting at 1.6 :(

A long shot maybe, but when I discovered my heat sink loose I also noticed that my power supply connector to the board wasnt fully seated.

Yeah, I checked that earlier when I took the whole HSF off and applied the new thermal paste.

I've hoaked though the bios and I think there must just be something I am missing.
