Has either Nvidia or ATI said when they think they might release $150-$250 DX10 cards?

If they haven't, anyone want to take a guess when this might happen?

The reason I ask is because I really need to upgrade graphics soon. My 9600xt broke after a solid 2 1/2 years, and i'm currently running on integrated. I keep telling myself to upgrade now, but then second guess my self and plan i'll wait it out.

What do you guys think i should do?

Well, ATI will release them at same time or after the top-line R600s. Early 07 for ATI.

nVidia probably will release the mid-range G80 in couple of months.

It might be hard to find a DX10 card for that price, because everyone will be snapping them up and driving the price high.

I don't expect to get a bargain in a year or two.

I havn't heard too much about mid-range DX10 cards. But it would make sense for it to be at least few months down the road as both Ati and Nvidia will want to sell off as much as they can of the mid-range DX9 cards currently on the market while they're still worth something.

I'd say jump on eBay and buy up one of these used cards I'm sure their are allot right now with the release of the 8800 series. Get it cheap and wait a few months to see how the DX10 cards shape out.

The cards i'm looking at now are the 7600gt and the x1950pro. If i bought the x1950pro, i would need to buy a new power supply, but if i went with the 7600gt i wouldn't. Which one would you guys recommend?

P.S. I'm still undecided whether to buy now or when DX10 is out  .

x1950pro is what i'm looking at now. AS for the power supply well if you want to run one of the big boys later your going to need it anyway. But again you might get a better deal later but it probably wont be to much of a difference unless your willing to wait a year or something. Also the 7600gt is a great card for the price but I decided on the 1950 pro cause its just a bit more but with allot more bang for the buck. Should hold me over about 6 months why'll I wait to see how the dx10 cards shape up.

Do whatever your pockets are deep enough to do. No one on here knows, and everyone's entitled to an opinion.

Wtf?! Nice thread hi-jack. I take my hat off to you, sir. :trophy:
Thanks  Although I wasnt trying to hijack, OP said that if he wanted an x1950pro he would need a new psu, and since I'm also looking at this card, I though I would ask his question for him, with a selfish agenda of course :p
