Hello,

You are not able to download codecs into WMP 9 for Pocket PC. Rumor has it
this will be fixed in Windows Mobile 2005.

In the meantime, take a look at PocketTV (http://www.pockettv.com) and see
if it will help you out.

Regards,

Just use BetaPlayer, it's free.

Yeah, BetaPlayer is much better than PocketTV.
In last version with plugins it plays not only AVI but MPG, WMV, OGG
and many sound formats.
If they will make stream video and audio support MS should replace WMP with
BetaPlayer.

Betaplayer supports WMV only if you do not have WMP 10. :(

(Which does point out the fact that you could not replace wmp with it since
it uses some of wmp's mechanics for a few of the formats...)

I read the most recent player is 0.096 :
http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/download.html

Do you know somewhere to get a more recent version ?

My mistake, my version is 0.5, not 1.0.
Just open your own link :)

Last time I checked there was only a .9x unstable version (which worked
fine) and the .5x stable version.

The site (betaplayer.corecodec.org) seems to be down at this writing, but
I'll check back later. I would like wmv support for a bunch of pre-existing
recordings - betaplayer skips commercials much better than mp. ;)

Just noticed this was answered in another part of the thread (no 1.0 -
bummer), so ignore.

There are 2 versions (branches) : A release branch currently at 0.5,
and an 'unstable' or 'beta' branch currently at version 0.096.

It happens that the unstable 'beta' is rather more stable than the
majority of full-release software, so I'd stick with that ;-)

But looking on date of release of 0.5 and 0.096 I see that 0.5 is later.

The most recent (stable) version is 0.5.

I've switched from unstable 0.095 to stable 0.5 without a problem.
