Getting ready to pull the trigger & wanted some opinion & advice on the ram & video card I am going to get.

First off: E6600
COOLMAX CUG-700B ATX 12V( V.2.2) 700W Power Supply
Antec 900

Now my questions are on the ram & video card.
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4 - Retail
Model #: TWIN2X2048-6400C4
SAPPHIRE 100186L Radeon X1950XT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail
Model #: 100186L

I will be getting a different video card when I see the result of the ATI dx10 vs. the g80. But I want something to hold me over til then.
The ram seams like it will work fine, read alot on it, but what do you guys think?

Ram is nice, fairly pricey...

I would recommend G. Skill since it's cheaper than the Corsair and performs near identical. But it's your choice, Corsair is a top performer nonetheless...

I would also say get a GameXStream 700W instead of the CoolMAX... not too crazy about that brand...

Everything else seems fine. Good luck.

Thanks Dough!!

I will look into those. Trying to keep it @ or below $1400.00. My old AMD XP3000+ just isnt cutting it any more, going to give it to the wifey.

Also, you might want to shop around. I buy at since their prices are very competitive and their customer service is top notch. Been buying from them for years.

Oh yeah, and about the mobo, DQ6 is nice, but the P5B-E has a better OC while also being a bit cheaper. Your call on that. I also take it your using stock cooling huh... if you wanted too, you could get the Arctic Freezer 7 pro which is a nice cheap HSF for Conroe.

Just curious, but why spend that much on a vid card you plan to replace? Unless of course you have money growing out your butt. :p  I'd think we'd know plenty about the new dx10 cards in a few short months. But hey, it's your money.

Doughbuy, checked out that link for More expensive than newegg on every item I checked. Every now and then, you can find something a little cheaper through pricegrabber, but newegg is tough to beat.

I was wondering about the p5b-e. I am going to oc this rig for sure. As far as cooling goes, Im not sure if i want to go water or air. was going to work with the stock hsf for a couple of weeks.

Good stuff, hope you enjoy your build.

Water cooling is pretty expensive, not worth it for a budget build since it won't net you much more fo a FSB...
