I have got this scenario

My Laptop connected to Ethernet 0/0 of a Cisco router 2600 , and ether 0/1 of the same router is connected to Netscreen Firewall (untrusted port).

Trusted port for a netscreen is connected to a PC.

A- I assigned Laptop’s NIC and cisco Ethernet 0/0 ip addresses 172.16.16.100/16 and 172.16.16.2/16 respectively.

B- I assigned cisco Ethernet 0/1 and untrusted port 10.0.0.2/8 and 10.0.0.1/8 respectively.

C- I assigned trusted port and NIC card for the PC ip addresses 192.168.1.1/24 and 192.168.1.100/24 respectively.

When I connected straight through cable form untrested port to Ethernet 0/1 , the link status LED for the untrested port did not glow
.

1- I replaced that cable with a cross over cable, it led and the showed me through GUI the interface for the firewall is up (before with straight through cable it was down).

2- For a tesing purpose, can we configure Netscreen to use a dynamic routing protocol (RIP, OSPF, etc) in my current scenario ?
