Hey All

Im thinking about purchasing this web cam but have a few concerns.

1. I need to change the port on the web server to something other than
port 80. I am currnelty running a webserver and only have 1 Internet
IP so Id like to change the port on teh cam to 81 or something , Know
if this can be done.

2. Id like to focus the cam on my pool, I plan on mounting the cam in
my attic near an opening that allows air to flow through. The pool is
about 150 feet from where the cam will be mounted , any idea what the
clarity will look like.

!!Much Thanks!! to anyone with a DCS-900 that is looking outside and
provides a link for me to view !!

Thanks and Regards

Tim

after thought
about 150'
thats about 300 dia
pi maybe 950 circ
lens maybe at 35deg H
which is about 10% of cir
typing my minds guestimate

what do you see 50 feet left and
50 feet right of the center line of your pool ?

imagine that view centered inside of a
320x240 or 640x480 pic

I'd lean towards getting a video capture device (I use the USB Live
connector) and use a cheap VHS camcorder as your video source. You can pick
up a used clunker camcorder at a yard sale for 30 or 40 bucks, and that will
give you nice color, decent zoom, and the option to use any other video
input device you want at a later time if you so choose.

My webcam page - sometimes I have a b/w IR security camera, sometimes a
little cheap CCD color cam, sometimes my good 8mm camcorder, sometimes a
direct feed from my cable box.... with a video capture device you have
mucho choices.

(if that interests you, look around... you can find em for around $20)

Hey

I really like this idea. I noticed on your webcam , its just a video.
But Im guessing this will stream the video since your saying your
watching cable TV , Im assuming your watching it live. What software
are you using to convert the live data to provide the stream ?

Thanks

You change the port on the software. If you have a router/firewall, you may
need to open up the port.
