If u'll go for OC ... the E6300 will beat the hell out of X2. If u're planning to keep them at stock speeds ... gaming performances will be relatively the same(depending mostly on ur VGA) ... with some advantage to e6300

Yeah, at the moment, the Core 2 Duo is the best processor that you can get on the market. What's also nice is that (for once), its performance-per-watt pisses all over the Athlon.

You'll be really happy with your E6300, I just got a E6600 myself and I seriously think I would have been fine with an E6300. This thing offers way too much power than necessary (except for when I'm rendering video footage).

I have an X2 4200 and I think it's is a nice processor that OC's decently. That being said, buy an e6300. It's nicer and OC's like a champ. If I hadn't needed my machine earlier, I would have went with Intel.
