anyway i can use a backup from the damaged machine on another ipaq
(different model)
have the sprite premium self extracting backup version, but thought
i'd ask before trying....

I dont sure, but if OS on both PDAs is the same it can work.
Restore will not do something irreversible, hard reset will fix it anyway Just dont forget to make backup.
But main problem is in ActiveSync. I am afraid, but it will show you message
that it cant do restore on other PDA model or language.
