Hey all,

I heard that DDR ram it works better if your sticks are matched. So, with that in mind, would it be better to get:

1) 2 sticks of 512 mb

or

2) 1 stick of 512 mb and 1 stick of 1 gb

Would the extra 512 mb in choice 2 improve the performance enough to overcome the matching in choice 1?

I'd be running this with the 2 ghz core2duo on a thinkpad t60.

Thanks in advance.

You get better performance out of 2 of the same size sticks of RAM. Then it will run in dual channel mode if your main board supports it.

Yeah I know dual channel is better if you're comparing the same amount of ram. My question is how more ram running in single channel compares to less ram runnning in dual channel.

1.5 gigs in single channel vs 1 gig in dual channel.
