will that still be able to handle it if i upgrade to 2gigs of ram?

Easily.

The Forton (FSP) 450w PSU can deliver up to 348w on the 12v rails, that would leave a minimum of 102w on the 3.3v and 5v rails. Therefore your real concern should be the 12v rails.

The most power hungry components are the CPU and GPU. You CPU consumes about 44w. If you were to overclock it to be as fast as the X6800 CPU, then power consumption will jump to around 66w.

Since the 7900GS is a close relative of the more powerful 7900GT, then I will assume it will draw about 45w on the 12v rail. More if the GPU is overclocked, beyond nVidia's specs; which is usually the case.

Other things that draws power from the 12v rail is the hard drive; about 17w for your 80GB HD, and the DVD drive; about 15w.

RAM draws power from the 3.3v rails, and is about 10w per 1GB worth of RAM.

To summarize, you'll have no problems with the 450w Fortron PSU.

Ignore the Rosewill detractors around here, most have never tried a Rosewill anything. I bought the modular version of this PSU about 5 months ago, and it completely kicks a$$. Check out my system specs, I have the same video card in a dual core system on an Abit board. Running 2 SATA drives and an IDE drive, two DVD burners, three case fans and a Big Typhoon, etc. Never hiccupped, it is dead quiet and my system temps never get above 40. I put a cheaper 400 Watt Rosewill in my parents comp and am getting the same results. All of my case fans have been replaced with Rosewill fans because they move the same air more quietly than the Vantecs and the Antecs at half the price. I've used several other Rosewill components in mine and several other systems and I have yet to use one that I was the least bit unhappy with. Trust me, unless you can get a PC&C or a Seasonic for the same price, go with the Rosewill. Incidentally, I replaced a 2 year old 580W Antec PSU with the Rosewill I am using now because my system was unstable. Using a brand name is safe, but it doesn't always guarantee it'll be better.

=/ you guys r confusing me now one is telling me to go with the rosewill and one isnt =/

I'm just telling you what I would do in your shoes. Our systems have similar power requirements (yours a little less), and I am confident that the Rosewill will work fine for you. If you want 100% assurance, well...... no one can do that. With New Egg you can always return it if it doesn't work out and get something else. I had a Thermaltake PSU with my old Socket A system and it wasn't that great (system was never quite stable), that's why I got the Antec that I eventually replaced with the Rosewill. In a nutshell, if you want to play it ultra-safe, go with a 500W or higher PC&C, Seasonic, Fortron (FSP) or a Sparkle PSU. You'll pay a premium, but they will be the most likely to do the job without a hiccup. You'd be happy with the Rosewill, though.

This is another question about the Rosewill 550. My friend got a deal on newegg so I decided to pick one up. I haven't gotten the other components for my computer yet but here is what I plan on getting:

AMD Phenom II X3
ATI Radeon 4890
4 gb G.Skill RAM
640 WD Harddrive
Probably Gigabyte motherboard

Do you think that the Rosewill 550 Power supply would be able to handle all of this? It says that it's 35A combined on the 12V rails. I'm just a little worried it won't be able to handle it.
