Hi,

I recently purchased ASUS P5WDG2-WS Workstation Motherboard and now looking for a high performance PCI-Express Video Card for it. Kindly note that I am into lot of photo / video editing and have no intentions on playing any games on it.

I will appreciate your response in this regard. Please also note that I have no intentions to overclock my system.

Regards,

Zahid Hafeez

Hi
Why do you need a high performance video card if you don't do anything(photo editing, video editing, gaming, etc) that requires a good video card. why don't you just buy a cheap one, and spend your money on other things.

Read it again. He is A LOT INTO photo/video editing AND HAS NO interest in gaming.

Can't help you on the graphics card though.

For PCIe with Video/2D editing, I would recommend a passively cooled X1600. You could easily get by with just an X1300, but for the video editing it's better to have a little more grunt if you want to use the transcoding tools.

What is the Video you are editing and at what resolutions?

Also what are you going to be displaying the images on, CRT (DB-15) or digital LCD (DVI)? How many monitors? What apps specifically? Any 3D animation or strictly 2D?

I think the X1300 would do you fine for most things, and the X1600 is just a little more Oomph for other apps, but limited in their utility.

Some options;

Remember that the memory size on the X1300s can be increased through Hypermemory, so unless you need 256 or higher you might be fine with the cheapest on the page. Also consider if you want 2 DVI connections or not, and whether any of them need to be Dual-Link for large LCDs (they all come with at least 1 Dual-Link DVI).
