Basically i need to hook up a cheap desktop to both a monitor and a 42 in lcd.

The company wants to show schedules and such on the big lcd and the monitor (which would be at the desk, so the employee could control it)

i cannot use anything internal, what ever i need would have to be external.

They quality on the lcd doesn't need to be incredible, but it must fill the screen, and not be too blurry.

First of all, what am i exactly looking for? i have no clue what i would need to buy to make this work.

Second, if you do know what i need, what would be a good make/model?

hi.
you can buy an lcd tv which has dvi or vga connections to connect in desktop.
as for desktop you will need a graphic card with 2 outputs dvi ,dvi
or dvi,vga.
most of today cards have two connections.

yeh thats the problem though. the computer is 1) old 2) crap.

is there such thing as an external video card?

if this helps, i would expect that the computer has 1 vga (possibly dvi) output.

atleast, that is what im prepared for.

would something like this

be able to output to two monitors with only one input?

hi.
as i read it looks that this one can do the job you want.
but it says as a requirement the

TV set with composite Video.
be sure about that on your tv set.

The video card is not too important because you are just doing a presentation, so you should buy an lcd with a really resolution, or if you need to, buy a graphics card. Even a 7300gt (about the cheapest card on the market) can handle it because it has two dvis and does not require much power

this setup is for a car dealership. cost is no object.

its a bmw dealer, they want the nicest lcd they can find.

that matros looks great! Will it output the two different required resolutions? its tough tell from the website.
-It's expensive though.... im not even going to be using its main feature (that surround effect)

i just want to display the same thing on a reg monitor and a big lcd without major distortion. Anyone know of a cheaper option?

If thats the case, go a head, I suggest getting the 8800gtx or, and if you wanted, a core 2 x6800, an asus striker extreme mobo, pc8888 dominators, and the best lcd you can find, I suggest an NEC 46 inch

That way there is no way anything can be flawed, and its to no cost to you!

If you want a cheaper option, you can get a high quality projector for about a grand. That way, you can use one dvi for yourself, and the other for the projector, but I like the spend 10K because you can more, its more fun

No, i didnt mean a cheaper option to the lcd, i meant a cheaper option to the matrox.

Is there something cheaper than the matrox that can output to the lcd and the monitor?

would the product that i originally linked work?
