Never heard of the AM2+, but the AM2 socket is a 940 pin socket developed for the latest Athlon64 processors from AMD. It supports DDR2 and AMD's Virtualization technology among the other things that the entire A64 family does. It will be replaced sometime in 2007 with the pin and electronically compatible Socket AM3 which, among other things will have DDR3 compatibility, which is also pin and electrically compatible with DDR2.

If you're looking for buying advice about AM2, go somewhere else. Noone likes AMD here anymore....

yeah AMD sucks ballz

nah just kidding. I think that AM2+ is nothing more than the AM2 chips at 65nm technology. Nothing fancy about it as of right now, just smaller die.

AM2+ is supposed to support HT3.0 in AM2+ sockets only, but AM2+ chips should be backward compatible with the current AM2 socket. Unless AMD has changed their minds about this yet again.

Link!

65nm chips will be socket AM2 until the K8L comes out. See the link above.

it's always a story of black and white,
now intel is the fastest CPU, so AMD suck
if AMD has a faster CPU, intel sucks

they are both great company's who make both some good and bad CPU's
but, we all should be happy there is a bit of competition, to keep the development and price war going!
i think there are a lot of people who remember the old days, with the 386DX --> pentium 3 500 Mhz, there was intel and intel!

now all of the fanboys from both sites going to kill me! :?
if they never find my body, tell my girlfriend i love her
