I am having difficulty overclocking my 1950pro using the new beta version of ati tool. I had to use the beta because the older version didn't detect my card. Anyway, the system crashes when I find the max memory almost immediately (1407), and the max core crashes at about 590. Any ideas about why this is happening?

What are the temps on the card when you're OC'ing? Try forcing the fan to 100% because the "default" fan speed with the drivers is 20% pretty much constant and that's not enough cooling power normally. Also, you could try ATI Tray Tools to see if it's a software or hardware problem as the newest version should be able to see the X1950 Pro.

It's not a great overclocking in general without a voltage increase. I've gotten mine up to 621 core and that's similar to others. Memory doesn't overclock at all.
